Camera-mooning: Sun, Sand, and Drinks in our Custom Tervises

Pardon my lapse in posting, I’ve been working like a mad woman trying to make up shifts after 2 weeks off. I’ll be better, I promise!

So, where were we? Last time I told you all about the day after the wedding and all of the strange events leading up to when we finally jetted off to Punta Cana. Let’s pick up where we left off.

After an easy 3 1/2 hour flight that I had no trouble filling by stalking our wedding guests’ facebook photos, we landed on a caribbean island. If you’ve been to the Punta Cana airport (or many of the caribbean airports for that matter), you’ll know what came next – we dismbarked the plane.. right onto the tarmac! As soon as I stepped outside, my hair grew about thirteen times as large as it normally does. Monica Gellar style.

It’s the humidity!

.. but I didn’t care because we were finally on our much anticipated honeymoon! We made our way into, and then through the thatched roof airport:

We collected our bags, which were easy to spot thanks to the adorable luggage tags that Bridesmaid FUN. gave us a few months ago:

We found our cab, and after a Dominican traffic jam, arrived at our resort: the Majestic Elegance Punta Cana! We sprang for the “elegance club” which is essentially the “VIP” section of the resort – adults only, private pools, private section of the beach, and special treatment including a butler 24/7. Best. Decision. Ever. They checked us in while I sipped on one of their signature drinks, appropriately titled the “majestic.”

I can’t accurately describe how delicious this drink was, but it tasted like tropical heaven.

Our butler, Benjamin, gave us a tour of the resort and we headed to our room:

I won’t bore you with the day to day details, but rest assured we spent the majority of our time eating, drinking, laying by the pool, swimming in the aqua sea, and generally loving life. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves:

Amazing beach views.

Fun Fact: if you bring your own cup, they will put your drinks in it. Thus minimizing the need for so many refills. Also they’ll get to know you by your cups. I had these custom made on Tervis.com. So worth it for all the attention we got all week!

Hanging out at the resort.

Do those stairs remind anyone else of the clock scene in Titanic?

Experimenting with drinks. Hey, we were on vacation! In the bottom left photo, Cam is drinking a grasshopper. And spent like 45 minutes trying to talk like Raj Koothrappali.

It drizzled a bit most days. Then Tropical Storm Gabrielle happened. Luckily this was the extent of it. I spent most of the day singing “if you like pina coladas.. and getting caught in the rain.” With a pina colada in my hand.

Don’t worry ya’ll – we also had a few excursions, which were super fun. I’ll tell you all about them on the next installment of Camera-mooning!

How did you spend your days on your honeymoon?
